The emphasis for the Hyundai Mobis was on fundamentals.
The Ulsan Hyundai Mobis won 104-66 in a scrimmage against Myeongji University on Nov. 11 at the Hyundai Mobis Phoebus Basketball Team Gym.
Speaking before the game, Hyundai Mobis head coach Cho Dong-hyun said, “We’re going to play everyone evenly. However, (Seo) Myung-jin won’t play much. Originally, we didn’t want him to play, but our new guards were injured, so we’ll have him play short,” he said, sharing his game strategy.
“On defense, we emphasized the basics. You can’t give up more than 60 points to a college team. (Laughs) The same goes for the offense. We need to focus on the basics,” he said, emphasizing the fundamentals.
Hyundai Mobis struggled a bit in the beginning of the game. They couldn’t control their opponent’s fast offense. Kim Kook-chan scored from the outside and Jang Jae-seok from under the basket, but the game remained tight. At 12-11, Hyundai Mobis called for a timeout. After the timeout, Kim Jun-il scored from under the basket and Park Jun-eun scored on a fast break. However, it was not enough to set the tone. At the end of the first quarter, the score was 29-28.
At the beginning of the second quarter, Hyundai Mobis made back-to-back mistakes and lost the advantage. They called timeout and pressed hard from a high position, which led to their opponent’s mistakes. After a fastbreak and a basket, Hyundai Mobis turned the tables and increased their lead. Kim Tae-wan scored a fastbreak basket to make it 45-38.
Once in control, Hyundai Mobis continued to push forward. They were successful in defense and scored under the basket. A three-pointer by Park Jun-eun quickly increased the lead, and the score was 57-42 at halftime. 스포츠토토
