Julien Timber has suffered a cruciate ligament injury.
Arsenal announced via the club’s website on Friday, saying, “Timber was assessed after being substituted against Nottingham Forest and it was confirmed that he has an injury to his right knee. Timber will now undergo further tests over the next few days and we will have further news on his injury in due course. For now, everyone at the club is focused on supporting Timber.” 메이저놀이터
Local media reported that Timber’s injury is quite serious. Dutch outlet De Telegraaf reported, “Timber has suffered a major blow. Initial scans have revealed an anterior cruciate ligament injury, which will keep him out of action for months to come,” and that Timber will be out for some time.
Multiple British outlets, including The Daily Mail, The Telegraph, and The Athletic, also reported that Timber suffered a serious knee injury. It is believed to be a cruciate ligament injury.
Timber joined Arsenal from Ajax in the summer transfer window. The midfielder, who can play both fullback and center back, was expected to add tactical versatility to Arsenal’s squad, and his performances in preseason and in the Community Shield against Manchester City ahead of the start of the English Premier League (EPL) raised expectations.
Timber also started the league opener against Nottingham, but was forced off early in the second half with an injury. There has been some criticism locally that Arsenal could have substituted Timber when he showed signs of injury, but did not.
The Gunners were disappointed last season when injuries to their defense prevented them from challenging Man City for the title, and the injury to Timber, who was expected to be a key player from the start of the season, has left them in a bind. With Ben White, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Takehiro Tomiyasu all capable of playing at fullback, Timber’s injury is a setback for the Gunners, who also have the UEFA Champions League (UCL) to contend with this season.
